Nov 5th No hills today
The winter blast continues today. The forecast was for rain and sleet from noon onwards but this was taken around 9am from the bridge at Aviemore railway looking south to the Cairngorm hills and the low clouds were already arriving so no time to do a decent hill walk today. Just need to have the cake with guilt as few calories burned.

Sep 4th A good pub
Today has been a great outdoor day beginning this morning with an almost 20 mile ride from Aviemore up-to the funicular railway. Averaged about 8 mph uphill and 20mph back down. Then a walk from town to Ord Ban and around Loch An Eilan another 10 miles. Luckily just before home we go past the Old Bridge Inn so a deserved pint or two in order, a fine food and drink pub.

Sep 2nd Colour blindness
I know that I have a red green colour blindness where I cannot see numbers within a graphic of coloured balls. Yet I think I see green grass perfectly well and red jumpers etc. A good example is that I saw this mushroom in the raw as perfectly chestnut brown and was disappointed with this photograph and blamed my camera, as I see it as more strawberry coloured but my Mrs disagreed, whose right?.

Jul 28th Corbett recce
I went for a cycle to find out where I could access the start of my climb on Geal Charn Mor. I thought that I could get a track beside Loch Alvie, not to be but a nice picture of my MTB beside the loch. After taking the snap sadly I spotted a memorial plaque regarding 3 young men who had drowned, sad.

Jul 27th Hey Yogi
Our lodge was called Eagle Lodge but it did not not have any appropriate fancy carvings like this one outside Bear Lodge. If it is one of these chainsaw carvings very impressive even if it does look a bit sad.

Jul 26th A Welcome home baking surprise
I was on a joint MTB and hillwalking day. On the Burma Road track taking me to Geal Charn Mor, I was walking past a house on the land belonging to the Scripture Union. These home baking offerings were not to be passed up. The millionaires shortbread was the delicious sugar hit required after a 600 metre ascent. Hats off to the baker.

Jul 25th Cairngorm MTB magic
It might not be the brightest day, it might even be a dull and grey day but I'm happy. I'm in the Cairngorm national park where the MTB trails are to die for. This shot was taken at Loch an Eilein. Absolutely perfect early morning the only sound is the water lapping at the edge.
