Had my 2nd visit of the season to Penwhapple and what a grey miserable day it was with constant rain and very strong easterly winds. It felt like a March day at the beginning of the season. There were 6 other guys fishing in the morning but they had all disappeared by lunchtime, wise men. This grey picture including the horrendous wind turbines blotting the landscape sums it up. PS: I did catch 3 fish but was glad to head home.

Apr 2nd Penwhapple a cracking day
The first group outing of the season was a top outing to a great club water. For a change all the guys caught at least one fish which can be a rare event. Colin and I took the boat and caught 18 between us, 10 to Colin. My 8 were a perfect split of 4 brown and 4 rainbow trout. A full report will appear on my blog Desmondo's Anglings. The snap is of one of the fin perfect fighting brownies before it was returned.
